  Worked as a fellow as a recipient of American College of Physicians fellowship which is a competitive fellowship that is awarded to upto 3-5 recipients every year from across the globe with a provision for attending the US Medical schools for training in any sphere on medical science. I was trained in Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep medicine with the focus on Sleep medicine at the LIJ Health System sleep centre at Community Drive.

  The department primarily deals with internal Medicine and Pulmonology. In addition the subdivisions include those of Infectious Diseases, Geriatrics and Rheumatology. The triple focus of the department lay in clinical patient care, education of the medical and paramedical students and clinical research. As its chairman since 2005, the department has made steady progress in all the 3 areas and is currently the most cited department from the institute.   Principal Investigator, Expanded Influenza Virological Surveillance in India

  As PI for the influenza surveillance in Srinagar, J&K, we had a network of data generating labs that contributed to the description of influenza in India and documented the patterns of circulation of influenza in the country which despite being in the Northern hemisphere geographically, exhibited a Southern hemispherical pattern of influenza circulation. This documentation was a revealing experience and was the basis for changed recommendation for vaccine timing in India.

  GIHSN | Global Influenza Hospital Surveillance Network

  As the only India site of the GIHSN network, we were responsible for contributing to the GIHSN network data on influenza in hospitalised patients and the data were responsible for many high impact publications from the collaboration.
