I was inspired to do a study abroad year in Norway to further my knowledge of my degree subject but also to develop my understanding of different perspectives through studying at UIB and living in a different country. My main areas of interest are centred around ecology and ecosystems, specifically relating to synergetic feedbacks in the physical environment and potential for mitigating climate crisis induced ecological collapse. For my dissertation I analysed Landsat data using ArcGIS and Erdas IMAGINE software to map the spatiotemporal evolution of mangrove coverage for the Mempawah regency of West Kalimantan, Indonesia.
