      Dar Ul Sukoon is a home for physically and mentally challenged children and adults, both men and women in poverty or unable to address their challenges. I was the coordinator for the group of students who volunteered there every Saturday to arrange bake sales and activities for the residents.

      Trained as first responder who could respond to potential trauma situations as well as teach the general population basic life-saving skills. Attended several workshops in medical schools and rural areas teaching students and general population some basic life saving skills

      The Karachi-Down Syndrome Program is the first of its kind in the country and was built to cater to the needs of children with Down syndrome and their caregivers. The program arranges various workshops, seminars and medical talks which deal with issues faced by children with Down syndrome. I joined as a volunteer to forward this cause due to my interest in developmental Pediatrics, and Down syndrome in general. I volunteered as a coordinator and assisted during their weekly talk, as well as in carnivals and art classes for children. Show less

      As part of the rotation did rounds and attended clinics with attending physicians of the Pediatric Neurology department and the current residents. Worked-up new patients in the clinic, was part of consults as well as patients in the hospital. Attended conferences that were relevant to Pediatric Neurology. Also had the chance to be part of Special development and Autism clinic every week. Worked with attending, under supervision, in examining and discussing plan for patients. Served as a subintern with responsibilites, under supervision, that involved total care of the patient. This included history taking, physical examination and formulating a list of problems, and the plan to solve these problems. Followed by execution of diagnostic measures and treatment measures.
