  Food Technician for NASA Project

  I assist in the production of the shelf stable, retorted foods that get sent to the Houston Space Center. This includes the preparing and cooking raw food products while following critical control points, filling and retorting filled packages all while following good manufacturing practices. Throughout production, I conduct packaging and food safety tests to ensure a high quality products. These tests includes burst testing, using thermocouples during retorting, and measuring head space. I also cooperate with NASA scientists to reformulate outdated products. I work with suppliers to find new ingredients and create small batches for sensory and safety testing. Show less

  Microbiology Laboratory Assistant-Data Analysis and Sample Cllection

  I work closely with a professor to better understand how Bio-films form on food contact surfaces and how pathogens such as E. Coli O157:H7 get introduced and assimilated within them. We are working together to better understand these Bio-films to help food industries better protect against them and eliminate Bio-films once they form. I am accountable for the sample collection of microorganisms for various testing including Bio-film Compatibility Testing. I also assist in the collection and analysis of data from experiments. I prepare selective media and plates for microorganism inoculation while maintaining great standards in health and safety. Show less

  I was responsible for finding a tamper resistant option for one of their products. During this project, I worked closely with suppliers, the plant, and cross functional roles to help get information to make an informed decision.I also received exposure to flavor applications. This included developing 8 potential reformulations, working with a master flavorist from a flavor house, and reviewing a sweet panel to determine the success of the reformulations. I was able to save the company over $100,000 annually by conducting internal testing and finding inefficiencies within their packaging. Show less

  As a Corporate Management Trainee, I have had the opportunity to get exposure to the many different aspects of business within Kraft Heinz. Part of my program includes participating in two four month long rotations to develop myself as a young professional and obtain the leadership skills I need to be successful in the future.For my first rotation, I was on the Planters R&D team getting experience in developing new flavors for future Planters product. I was involved cross functionally working with marketing, procurement and more to learn about the product development process within Kraft Heinz. My second rotation was in ESG or Environmental Social and Governance. This included working on the donation process of Kraft Heinz to better understand how to donate additional product to decrease the amount of product that ends up in the land fill. I also worked closely with government affairs and packaging to better understand upcoming packaging legislation so Kraft Heinz is able to fully comply to these emerging legislation. Show less
