      Managed a Windows (2000) [AD, DNS, DHCP, Exchange 2000] network with 6 sites, 150 users, over multiple VPN WAN links. Provided network, server, computer, printer, and end-user support.Implemented security schema using AD, group policies, and NTFS that met organizational security requirements.Setup and supported organizational disaster recovery and backup strategy using DLT tape library.

      Responsible for IT infrastructure and its day-to-day operations: ensure integrity, security, maintenance, and growth of systems, consisting of over 90 servers, 4 blade chassis, IBM SAN (4 controllers and 2 fiber switches), and 5 DAS units. Manage web sites and web services: HTTP, SMTP, FTP, sFTP, WebDAV, SSO, and SSL. Apache HTTP server 2.2.x, Apache Tomcat 4.x to 6.x, and F5 Networks load balancing, in a production environment. Design, plan, install, configure, and manage backup systems, including (DLT/SDLT/LTO) hardware and software using IBM TSM, Symantec BackupExec, and Microsoft Data Protection Manager. Supervise, train, and provide leadership for 1-3 IT staff. Assign tasks, and review technical work. Plan IT budget ~$250K. Design and plan new systems to meet project goals, and find innovative solutions for technical project requirements. Practiced DevOps.Designed, planned, implemented, and managed a robust, high availability enterprise GIS system (MDiMap) that has resulted in successful hosting of State of Maryland spatial data infrastructure. Created scripts for status reporting, automated maintenance, including web application updating for change management, used by support team, ensuring a stable production environment.Lead systems engineer for Department of Homeland Security, Information Technology Evaluation Program (ITEP), Maryland Emergency Geographic Information Network (MEGIN). Worked in a team to design, plan, and implement proof of concept GIS system for a secure metadata portal acting as a catalog to secure GIS services with PKI using Aladdin eTokens for secure access. Co-presented “MEGIN, A Technical Walkthrough” at ESRI User Conference and Towson University GIS Conference.Installed, configured, and maintained a GIS system (java web mapping application using Tomcat, ArcIMS, and ArcSDE geodatabase on MS SQL Server 2000/2005 ) used for day to day operations for Maryland Emergency Management Agency. Perform installation, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting for network monitoring with IPSwitch WhatsUpGold, Nagios 3.x on CentOS 6.x & RHEL 6.x, Cisco NETFLOW, HP iLO, and SNMP. Administration of Windows 2003/2008 R2 network running AD, AD Certificate Services, DNS, DHCP, WSUS, WDS, RDS, Exchange 2007 w/ Blackberry Enterprise Server 5.x, file servers, print servers, Windows XP and 7. Manage HP LTO tape backup systems with Symantec BackupExec. Documentation of network and systems.Stood up a complete VMware vSphere 4.x infrastructure from the ground up using HP StorageWorks P4300G2 iSCSI SAN, and vCenter Server 4.x on MS SQL Server 2008 R2. Successfully upgraded to vSphere 5.0. Completed project plan to virtualize most of the pizza box servers into vm's. Authored extensive documentation of system ensuring administrative continuity.Planned, implemented, and supported an enterprise geodatabase system using MS SQL Server 2008 R2 with ESRI ArcSDE with a custom designed security framework for multiuser editing by combining ArcSDE security with MS SQL Server security.Successfully revamped AD with elegant OU structure, better site configuration, and better group policy framework which corrected for a poorly configured AD making it easier for support staff to accomplish tasks.
