  During my time in the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) I gained nine years of leadership experience leading engineering teams of up to 35 personnel, including 11 direct reports on-board a deployed naval frigate. This was in an operational environment that was both demanding and dynamic. My team consisted of a diverse group of technicians from a variety of cultural backgrounds with varying engineering aptitudes and team dynamics. As an officer my responsibility extended beyond the professional development and conduct of my team, focusing heavily on ensuring their welfare and well-being. This experience has allowed me to develop a strong leadership style with the ability to effectively adapt to the dynamics of the team.
