      The primary purpose of the Director, Nursing Research, is to provide strategic leadership, advocacy and operational guidance to research nurses and clinical research professionals in the areas of clinical research practice, education, quality, and safety. The Director of Nursing Research promotes a professional practice environment by developing and maintaining collegial and collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders across the institution to positively impact the research nurse and clinical research professional. Show less The function of the Research Quality Nurse Specialist is to design, evaluate and review all aspects of clinical research that involve nursing care for patients and to ensure that the clinical care of patients is guided by the most current protocol-driven information about investigational agents. While the function of the role is primarily focused on the translation of such information to the protocol/study quick reference fact sheets, the research quality nursing specialist has a broader scope which involves collaboration with nurses and research staff, including principal investigators, to ensure the safe and streamlined delivery of clinical care to patients on investigational studies. Show less The Research Nurse Manager plans, directs, administers, and evaluates clinical management of research protocols and clinical research care systems. Develops and administers a strategic plan to manage the Department of Genitourinary Medical Oncology (GU) protocol activity in collaboration with the GU Clinical Research Group and Clinic Management team. Directly impacts the safety of human subjects and the overall conduct of clinical trials according to the Code of Federal regulations and all applicable federal, state, and institutional policies. Clinical scope of the position is defined by the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Texas and requires adherence to the policies and procedures of the institution. Responsible for hiring, supervision, training, development, coaching, discipline, and evaluation of research staff. Ensures competencies and educational requirements are maintained. Plans and administers protocol operations for SCT&CT including the effective operation of cord blood, cell therapy, GVHD (Graft vs Host Disease), and NMDP (National Marrow Donor Program) protocols including collection and recording of protocol data, protocol analysis, protocol activity (creation, revision and submission), and patient care.
