  Education Assistant

  I was involved with the planning and implementation of educational workshops for primary and secondary school children on subjects such as recycling, water reuse, biodiversity, waste management, energy and "fun science". These were designed to link into the Green Schools curriculum in a fun and educational way. The placement allowed me to improve my public speaking and presentation skills, along with my organisational skills and creativity.   During the summer of 2014, I was an activity and adventure Councillor at Village Camps in York, UK. I was responsible for the daily care of groups of children between the ages of 9-18. As part of this, I took part in the delivery of an adventure-based program, including rock climbing and kayaking. I was also tasked with round the clock care of a group of children between 9 and 12 years of age.

  • I completed final year project for my Bsc. (Honours) in Environmental Science and health with Insight centre for data analytics and the national centre for sensor research.• My project was on the topic of "the development and integration of analytical methods for environmental monitoring within next generation microfluidic platforms". • I was involved in the determination of a chemical method of analysing heavy metals within a freshwater system which I then implemented into a basic microfluidic-based testing platform. • I successfully implemented a method of Iron detection that was suitable for my microfluidic system and was able to complete basic atomisation with very positive results.• I greatly improved upon my method development skills, along with my UV-Vis spectroscopy and fluorescent spectroscopy, and report writing skills.
