      Started off selling computer accessories like diskettes, cleaning kits, ribbons & etc. from door-to-door to companies in the Shenton way & Orchard Road District.With the growing concern at that time of computer generated radiation that computer monitors gave off as well as the need for stands to hold paper at an eye level position to ease both neck & back stress while typing, I negotiated for Distribution Rights of an upmarket American Anti-glare Screen filter & Anti-Static Non-magnetic Copyholder known as Fellowes. Playing on the growing concern as well as the features & quality of the nylon mess filters & the benefits of the copyholder, we were able to make good profit margins on the sales of these items, estimated at an average of 100 to 110 % above cost.. Next, I secured a showroom space at Funan Center to asses the potential of opening our own retail outlet to market our own brand of computers known as “ULTIMAX”. After a year, a space at Riverwalk Galleria was selected to be our first outlet where we would launch our Brand on a national level through advertisements. This resulted in the launch of two successful promotions for PC’s - one was a Free gift of either a Mountain Bike, 16 memory Pager or a 2400 BPS modem with every purchase of a PC & the other was highly successful finance scheme campaign through our channel of dealers from Holland Village, East Coast, Jurong & Funan Center. The above promos caused a stir in the market that even our competitors tried to imitate them.. By this time my duties had grown & included Marketing, Management of Sales, Market Research, Negotiating with suppliers, Customer support, overseeing the Assembly & Trouble Shooting of PC & etc. were also under my supervision.
