Suddenly being responsible for people - their goals, their careers, their progress - is a remarkable thing. I imagine it gives you the same sense of responsibility as suddenly having children. What a fulfilling and rewarding experience though! In this role, I have a team of change coordinators reporting into me and between us, we rule the kingdom of change management in the voice branch. The voice branch environment is a unique one offering many opportunities and also many challenges due to the nature of the work. I have had to build strong relationships with stakeholders to land effective change in this environment. I am responsible for managing the teams site and subsequent channels which are the primary means for communicating to the voice branch. We land change in a unique and very conversational manner to ensure that everyone is onboard and has the opportunity to ask questions and be a part of the discussion. We take a very measured approach to change and communication keeping our customers as the main focus of everything we do and trying all the time to ensure our teams have the ongoing stability and infrastructure they need to deliver to the best of their abilities and provide ongoing support to our customers. In my first 2 years in this role, I have managed to turn a dysfunctional change team around, putting change firmly on the map and deliver outcomes which carry significant business value. We are now a high performing team who always deliver to our business partners. Through mentoring and coaching, I have worked with every individual in my team to develop their confidence, ability and knowledge and I am proud of where my team are going. I look forward to growing in this role as time progresses. Show less It is not often in a big corporate that you get to do something totally new. Most recently, I have assisted with the establishment of a new team within Standard Bank. Through discussions, round tables, forums, questionnaires and a host of other mediums, we co-created the culture for this new team by listening to what it was that our people need from the culture and marrying this with the strategic direction of the team to come up with a solution. In addition, I had the opportunity to interview all our clients and to set ourselves up to deliver to their needs. These clients operate in different countries throughout Africa and have varying needs and nuances, all of which need to be taken into account to establish our new team as the service provider of choice for them. The solution was a high performing team built on a culture of trust, collaboration and co-creation. An environment where everyone's voice was heard and the culture fostered opportunities for success and growth. We partnered this approach with communications that answered the questions the teams had and took a variety of formats so people could engage in a way that made sense to them. Additionally, we made use of several change management frameworks to assist our teams to navigate the changes they were going through and develop their resilience for future change. This experience has afforded me the opportunity to learn a new skill. Through the SLAP company, I am now a certified Internal Culture Consultant. I have had the opportunity to start a team from scratch and employ many of the change management frameworks in partnership with cultural development methodologies and communication know-how to really level up on my skills and develop an environment for people to flourish. Something which is, for me, incredibly noteworthy about this position is that we established this team while South Africa was on official lock down. We continue to lead this team virtually as we have not been back to the office since. Show less I currently serve as Change and Communication Manager in the Technology Division, where I am responsible for the planning and execution of change management, communication and culture initiatives across IT. This includes working closely with senior executives to ensure that the interventions we deploy are in full support of the IT and Group strategies. I have had the opportunity to assist one of our teams with Block Chain implementation in Standard Bank. This has been an exciting and challenging task as I have had to learn quickly and think on my feet to ensure that I understand the team, their requirements and provide solutions which are fit for purpose. In addition, I write the articles for internal distribution and the Standard Bank strategy and dabble in graphic design. This allows me to merge my creative side with the more logical, process driven requirements of assisting a business unit to deliver to the best of their ability. My role requires me to deal with people at multiple levels of seniority and I pride myself on my ability to forge and maintain excellent relationships with my stakeholders and colleagues.Whilst working with the Data Services teams, I have led the successful implementation of multiple large, cross-divisional programmes, some of which directly support the overall transformation of the division to an Agile and DevOps working environment. My expertise spans traditional as well as digital communication and I make use of an effective mix of channels to reach my target audience. I have a strong understanding of group brand standards and actively drive adherence to these standards across campaigns and change initiatives. Show less In the capacity of Communication and Production Manager I was responsible for all communication elements surrounding the bank-wide upgrade of SAS to V9.4. This included scoping the extent of the change and planning effective communication interventions that would deliver the desired results. I worked with senior leaders across IT, kept them abreast of progress and escalated issues that hamper delivery. In order to expedite delivery and improve operational workflow I implemented process improvements that resulted in simpler tracking of work and seamless delivery. Show less
