  Undergraduate Process Engineer

  I was in charge of organising and performing experiments on the pilot plant of the emerging technology of forward osmosis. I was required to operate the pilot plant manipulating several of the parameters and collecting results, also to write several progress reports and a final technology report to a local university involved.I also collaborated with the staff to assemble an easily accessed data base of the various water treatment technologies and projects the company has been a part of.

  During my time here I have lead or been apart of several projects including: o Increasing the efficiency and reducing the chemical and water consumption of the cooling tower. I was required to audit and manage the tower in a better way which has resulted in a reduction of water consumption by a quarter. o Auditing the plant to update the piping and instrumentation diagrams, labelling, tagging and the valve lists. From this I have a renowned understanding of the plant and have become adept at Autocad. o A dissolved air floatation trial to treat the trade waste from site. I was involved corresponding with NALCO to organise the trial, troubleshooting, setup problems, manipulating parameters to obtain meaningful results, taking and testing water samples and reporting in fortnightly meetings on findings. o Label management and consolidation. I was required to collect and integrate information and staff knowledge, calculate the cost for different scenarios and present my findings to the Managing Director, General Manager and other key staff members. This audit will save over $40,000 a year as well as reduce working capital. o I have been involved with some other projects in other areas of the business including research and development, paperless office and accounts, not to mention the hands-on-experience I have had with operators, the maintenance team and the engineering manager.
