      A program designed to teach cooking fundamentals as well as preparing students for their career. In an effort to better myself as a cook and further my career, I chose a program with a variety of essential training. I find I use my knowledge and connections from this program almost daily, and as a result am able to teach and lead others more effectively.

      In association with the Canadian Payroll Association, the program is designed to train students to work in the fields of accounting, bookkeeping and finance. With classes like Accounting for Business I and II, Payroll Compliance Legislation, and QuickBooks and Sage50 I am ready to handle anything from accounts receivable/payable to year-end procedures.

      I ran one of the sections of en Ville's wonderful, but very busy catering company for approximately two-and-a-half years, through three wedding seasons. This was one of the most formative times of my life. I truly learned the definition of having a solid work ethic and of teamwork. It requires strict discipline and organisation to perform in a field like catering, and it taught me so much. Problem solving, team management, time management and even having foresight were daily aspects of the job. I now feel prepared to take on any task and am unafraid to take on new responsibilities.       Private Tutor

      I was the private tutor to a special needs student at a trade school in a pre-electrical apprenticeship training program in which I was also enrolled at the time. The student in question suffered from extreme anxiety and require the utmost patience to teach. Instruction often required an alternative approach than the traditional. Tutoring required demonstrating skills like terminating connections, bending conduit, drawing electrical diagrams, and wiring electrical panels. We also studied the electrical code and technical diagrams. It taught me a lot about patience, managing people and expectations, and about teaching, which is something I particularly enjoy. Hired originally as the Sous Chef, I assumed the role of Head Chef for a time.I worked as Sous Chef/Head Chef while in school full time. I am responsible for inventory and supplies, resource and staff management, planning two sets of daily features as well as specials for the weekend.
