The award was presented in Pullach by Linde Engineering Board Member Tilman Weide and Christoph Pelz, Head of Quality, Continuous Improvement and HSE.Weide lauded Donath’s concern for his co-workers before hosting a lunch in the Agora in his honor: “Jens wins the award for leading by example and for constantly pushing for safety implementation at all times.” That’s not easy, Weide explained. Sustaining safety awareness on construction sites needs continuously renewed efforts as time passes, which is one reason why the target of zero incidents is so hard to reach.Donath was nominated for the award for taking an active interest in safety, for supporting his HSE team in discussions with contractors and the client, for leading all kinds of safety activities including HSE site inspections, for impressing the importance of safety on subcontractors by raising HSE issues with them unprompted and for issuing written safety instructions to contractors on site. He also made strong statements and commitments on necessary safety developments in a safety culture workshop and acted accordingly.His colleagues on site said in their nomination that Jens is a role model regarding HSE. Donath, who has been on six foreign assignments since he joined Linde in 2010, said that Johor’s safety record was a team effort. Show less
