The degree was sought for two reasons. First, to satisfy a personal interest and hobby in classical and presuppositional apologetics (i.e., defending the historic Judeo-Christian theistic tradition from all forms of secularism, materialism and humanism). Second, to assist in life-long application of any career goals by applying the western canon - consider Peter Drucker's quote at end of this profile from "The Essential Drucker" (01) - Makes perfect sense doesn't it! • Cardone Industries

      Mar 1989 - Mar 1994
Director, Occupational Safety & Health Compliance

The first-time position was created after using my security staff (while in graduate school) to conduct after-hours workplace inspections which grew in complexity for a very fast growing multi-site manufacturing facility with approx. 2000 employees. Work was conducted within HR which also included a claims manager, an occupational nurse and a full/part-time inspection team I managed. The scope of operations included everything from raw materials to shipping. The position of direct responsibility was very successful having built relationships and awareness across all lines of management, union employees, insurance carriers, identifying, writing and monitoring all required and best-practice programs, and by reducing critical incidents by over 300% annually. Risk assessment grew in complexity to include all aspects of industrial hygiene and some property management of operations.Duties included, but were not limited to, managing and developing safety inspectors, identifying exposures and related EH&S federal, State, local and consensus standards, assessing risk levels, selecting, recommending and coordinating feasible controls, and program measurement and monitoring. Also included extensive training, new-employee orientation, hands-on IH sampling (noise, VOCs, fume, dust, metals, etc.), accident investigations, safety committee development, routine inspections, State, federal and local compliance, all within a quality management system context.Position ended to meet family obligations.
