      As Fire Chief of a two-station, 160 plus personnel, and 3.4 million dollar annual budget organization; I led our volunteer fire department for multiple years. I was responsible for overseeing all aspects of fire department operations, including emergency response, personnel management, training, budgeting, and community engagement. I work closely with the Fire Chief, other department heads, and personnel to proactively identify and mitigate safety hazards, promote a culture of safety, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.Key Responsibilities:Develop, implement, and continually refine health and safety programs, policies, and procedures for the department. Stay updated on industry best practices, regulations, and emerging trends in fire department safety. Ensure the department complies with federal, state, and local safety regulations, standards, and guidelines. Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and reviews to identify areas of improvement and compliance issues.Oversee the development and delivery of safety training programs for firefighters and department personnel.Promote safety awareness through educational initiatives, workshops, and drills.Lead investigations into safety incidents and accidents, identifying root causes, and recommending corrective actions.Maintain detailed records of all safety-related incidents and actions taken.Collaborate with other department heads to ensure effective emergency response plans are in place, and that personnel are adequately trained for various scenarios.Monitor and ensure the safety and operational readiness of firefighting equipment and apparatus.Recommend repairs, replacements, or upgrades as needed.Prepare and present safety reports to senior leadership and external agencies as required.Analyze safety data and trends to inform decision-making and risk mitigation.Provide leadership and mentorship to safety personnel within the dept.Collaborate with the Fire Chief and other senior leaders to ensure safety is a top priority. Show less During my tenure as an Operational Battalion Chief in both the 2nd and 4th Battalions, I assumed leadership responsibility over approximately 80 individuals within each battalion. My role encompassed the command of numerous high-stake scenarios, including large-scale incidents, multi-alarm fires, and fire incidents involving multiple rescues. Notably, I introduced the practice of Battalion Drills, which has since become an integral part of the department's standard procedures.In the face of challenging personnel issues, I consistently sought resolutions that resulted in improved outcomes. My commitment to excellence manifested in the meticulous and highly professional management of fireground operations. Throughout my leadership, I placed unwavering emphasis on safety protocols and the strict adherence to Standard Operating Guidelines (SOGs). My dedication to these principles ensured that each operation was conducted with the highest level of precision and safety, reflecting my unwavering commitment to the firefighting profession. Show less During my tenure as the Captain of Tower 3, I had the privilege of spearheading a transformative $9 million renovation project for Engine 16/Tower 3. This initiative involved not only overseeing its successful execution but also optimizing its operations to enhance safety and efficiency.Additionally, I took on the responsibility of revising and refining the response plans pertaining to the White House, ensuring our readiness for any potential contingencies. My dedication extended to contributing significantly to the inception and implementation of a comprehensive Cancer reduction program, a critical initiative for safeguarding the health and well-being of our team members.Subsequently, my role as Captain extended to the Safety Office and Engine Company 15, where I continued to prioritize the welfare of both personnel and the public we served. This diverse experience further honed my skill set, enabling me to excel in the Medical Services Office, where I not only seamlessly filled in when needed but also played a pivotal role in training others to perform effectively in this vital aspect of our operations.
