My role as Floor Leader at Lush has taught me that the importance of positive customer experience is integral to the success of any business. I was responsible for counting the point of sales, opening and closing the store independently,and for motivating the staff to achieve sales goals. In this role I have striven to reach and surpass sales goals by managing my team through the use of business drivers such as units per transaction, average sale, customer conversion percentages and last years sales goals. By doing so, I have gained skills in management, social networking and negotiation. Additionally, I have gained experience in visual merchandising as it is the responsibility of the Educators to create an aesthetically purposeful wall based on products that tell a story. During my time as a Sales Representative at Indigo I was trained in large scale inventory, visual merchandising and personal shopping. The emphasis on visual merchandising alongside the experience of personal shopping with clients was especially engaging as I gained experience working with long term clients individually to provide the best customer service possible. I participated in organizing several events including a Christmas showcase for media outlets in Montreal. Acting as a representative for the press, and showcasing the excellent service that Indigo as a company provides. Alongside using drivers such as units per transaction, average sale, and customer conversion, employees were encouraged to get involved in charitable causes that brought children's books to underprivileged schools in the city of Montreal. The main research focused on the different representations of Irish girlhood in the Irish women's nationalist newspaper 'Inghinidhe na hÉireann'. My main responsibilities included the study of microfilm at the National Library of Ireland, keywords research, in text analysis and a firm understanding of the digitization of historical texts. The digitization of humanities demonstrates an intersection between computing and information management.This methodological and multidisciplinary project has given me valuable experience in investigation, analysis, synthesis, information management, and the presentations of information in electronic form. Show less As an Administrative Assistant at the School of Canadian Irish Studies I was responsible for supporting the Assistant to the Principal and the Manager of Promotion and Community Outreach in their roles at the university. I acted as a replacement to the Assistant to the Principal when they took their yearly vacation and undertook their responsibilities to the principal of the school which included answering phone inquiries, completing tasks for the principal and working alongside the reputable Canadian Irish Studies Foundation.       This two month internship at the Beckett Digital Manuscript Project at the University of Antwerp focused on primary sources such as the personal notebooks of Irish writer Samuel Beckett.Responsibilities included the transcription, coding, and translation of the third notebook of Beckett's novel 'Watt' from French to English. In this position I learnt how to utilise XML, meta descriptions, photo editing and information management. The goal of the Beckett Digital Manuscript Project is to create digital artifacts that demonstrate how digital media transforms traditional disciplines. This multidisciplinary project uses computational tools and methods that not only help in the preservation and curation of digital content, but it also draws much needed attention to the aesthetics of the digital.
