  For most of my Dental placement I shadowed dentists which gave me a good insight into working with other people as in the center there was many dental teams that worked collectively. I also had my own admin targets to reach by the end of each day which taught me time management skills which made my time at the practice very productive.

  As a representative of Global Youth Ambassadors, I was the given the opportunity to discuss current issues with the Lord Mayor of Birmingham and the US ambassador to the UK, Mr Robert Johnson IV. One particular issue we discussed was how to tackle to problem of knife crime within the UK. I was able to learn about the process that follows when a person is found to be carrying a weapon.

  Working in the retail industry has helped me with my communication skills, it has made me more confident in speaking to others in order to reach the best outcome for the customer. I have had a good insight into working In a team in which everyone has different roles. I have worked regularly over peak season which demonstrates I can reach my targets under pressure and a busy working environment.

  Project Director

  I am currently ProBono Project LIGHT Director, I chose to apply for this project as I want to contribute to mitigating the harsh impacts that homelessness has on individuals. Not only do I want to aid individuals with short term struggles regarding food but also long term issues such as employment and housing to better their quality of life. I'm excited to learn more about the demographic in Leicester and help tackle the inequality.

  During this placement I worked on several research tasks collecting and analysing different types of data sets and market research, with a main focus on deep diving into competitors within higher education establishments. I also had the opportunity to present my findings in the last week to the marketing and insight team and gained feedback on my presentation skills as well as sit in on presentations delivered by third parties of the university. This internship has allowed me to try something new broadening my commercial awareness and work in a department I originally didn’t have vast knowledge on, allowing me to adapt and constantly learn new skills as well as completing my tasks.
