In this course, teacher candidates learn how to integrate environmental education across all subject areas. Assessment includes reflections for each class and a Prompt for the Planet creative assignment.FOCI 243: Environmental EducationThis course is one of two elective courses that together make up a concentration, or an area of teaching and learning for B.Ed. students to develop additional expertise. It involves teaching 30 teacher candidates in the P/J and J/I divisions once a week for two hours, over 18 weeks. This practice-oriented course focuses on enhancing teacher candidates’ understanding and appreciation of the natural environment as a classroom, while increasing their knowledge of environmental issues and how to teach about them.
