      Musician

I have been a performing musician for around 20 years, in orchestras or bands, as well as dep and session recording for bands in a range of musical genres.I play the violin, flute, guitar, and I sing. My main style is folk, particularly Irish/Scottish. I have performed at many Scottish Reeling Balls in the UK and abroad, with performances at Buckingham Palace, the Royal Caldonian Ball and the Houses of Parliament, as well as performances in Malta, the Netherlands, Iceland and Norway. With this band, I have also helped teach Scottish Reeling to the girls at Benenden School, Kent, St Hugh’s School, Oxford, and St. Swithun’s School, Winchester as well as travelling abroad to teach. In 2015, I taught at an Estonian Summer school, teaching folk music to children and teenagers. I have also run a range of workshops at UK folk festivals including instrumental and dance sessions. I am currently part of the Sheffield Beatles Project - an up to 30-piece orchestra celebrating the anniversaries of the Beatles' albums with live performances. Our most recent performance was in the O2 in Sheffield.I gig regularly as a dep ceilidh musician and a caller for dancing. I'm equally comfortable playing Irish classics in a pub or playing for a ceilidh of a few hundred people! I am not currently a regular part of a particular ceilidh band, but would like to be.I also have experience of recording, as well as working with various pieces of software including Audacity, Adobe Audition, Sibelius and Cubase. I run my own jewellery business based in Sheffield. I design and make everything myself, by hand. I am a silversmith, and make anything and everything from beaded bracelets to wedding rings. I love making custom pieces, and am always learning new skills to try out.

Class Teacher and ICT Curriculum Specialist

I worked as a class teacher in Lower Key Stage 2. I was ICT co-ordinator during this time, including during the 2014 National Curriculum change which saw coding added to the curriculum as a strand of Computing. I worked to update the school's curriculum offer using Scratch, Kodu and Lego EV3 robots. This transition involved training other staff within school, supporting colleagues with team teaching and training staff from other local schools, as well as providing resources to support staff with something which for many of them, was totally new. I started a First Lego League team at school, who went on to become Regional Champions twice, National Project Champions 2014 and represented Great Britain at the First World Festival in 2014 in St Louis. I was also heavily involved in the musical life of the school, initially supporting then running the choir, and organising school plays and musicals including a performance of Spiderweb's adaptation of The Tempest at Sheffield Library Theatre.
