      Strawbery Banke, one of the country’s most significant historic neighborhoods, interprets archaeology, architecture, crafts and trades, and horticulture, as well as New Hampshire and Seacoast history. I wrote newsletter copy, press releases, and feature articles.

      Montshire, a highly visible “hands on” institution, has many ties to nearby Dartmouth College. Chief spokesperson; responsible for all aspects of public relations and marketing for a museum that broke attendance, sales, and participation records. Responsibilities included writing and producing all major printed pieces including an award-winning newsletter; writing and producing a daily radio program, “The Montshire Minute;” media interviews, press releases, press conferences, and tours; design and placement of advertisements; and writing and production of television public service announcements. Montshire was regularly featured in major regional media including the Boston Globe and Vermont Life, and was selected by the state travel office as a “top ten” site. Show less

Other writing assignments included newsletter and magazine articles, writing for a $27 million capital campaign; copywriting, design, and placement of advertisements; speech writing; and writing and editing of major marketing publications. As the college’s in-house graphic designer I produced advertisements, brochures, newsletters, and other high-visibility pieces. I had a lead role in the creation of Colby-Sawyer’s first website. Chief spokesperson; responsible for press releases, press conferences, the generation of stories, overall media relations, and the creation and execution of a comprehensive media relations plan. I helped manage sensitive media situations, including controversies concerning race relations and discrimination related to military recruitment. I reported directly to the president and dean and counseled him and other top administrators; I attended senior staff meetings and was a member of the Marketing and Website committees. My areas of responsibility also included publications and graphic design projects, media training, videos, hiring and supervision of ad agencies and other vendors, public radio commentaries, and effective website usage. As a member of the Vermont Higher Education Council’s Public Relations Committee, I organized statewide workshops on crisis communications and strategies for enlivening school websites.       New Hampton School will soon enter its third century of college preparatory education. The school combines tradition with a new, global focus, including adoption of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. Chief spokesperson; responsible for managing press relations and the generation of stories. I edited the Hamptonia magazine and supervised the website and all major school publications. I had a lead role in NHS’s rebranding, which stemmed from a comprehensive strategic planning process. I chaired the school’s External Relations and Marketing Strategic Plan Subcommittee. I worked closely with a marketing communications firm and with two web communications firms (all with national credentials). This work provided the springboard for launching an energetic integrated marketing and communications plan. NHS was in the quiet phase of a capital campaign, projected to raise $25 million.       New England Law | Boston, formerly known as New England School of Law, celebrated its centennial in 2008-2009. It completed a rebranding process and launched a revised website shortly before I assumed a newly-created position. I coordinated further site refinements, among many other communications projects. I wrote copy and shot photographs and video for web stories, worked closely with the school’s webmaster on page layouts and architecture, and contributed to the production of contracted videos. I led weekly meetings focused on site priorities and led major revisions to the homepage, Admissions, Faculty, and other site sections. I worked closely with a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) vendor and an advertising agency on web analytics and social media projects. Other duties included writing articles for the school magazine, editing and proofreading, and work on the school’s strategic marketing plan. Show less
