For me, this role provided me with both professional and individual growth – completing training in suicide prevention, first aid, leadership and Mental Health First Aid. The role of RA was comprised of working in a team of 14 students, in conjunction with the executive team at Dunmore Lang College – therefore, I had consistent communication with a number of professionals, to ensure that the duty of care of residents within the community was sustained. I was able to positively contribute to the team by using my effective interpersonal skills to engage other team members and fellow residents in a number of events and tasks, to ensure that the conflict was minimal and addressed appropriately.
