      Slaughter and May Work Experience

      • Completed a set task and brief given to me by the Head of the legal team at ITV. I worked effectively both in a team and independently to create a concept for a brand-new game show.• Created a presentation, press release and memo that answered several challenging legal questions written by seniors in ITV’s legal department.• Attended several workshops, including CV writing, how to use LinkedIn successfully and improvement of presentation skills. I scheduled the main task around these workshops to guarantee that I was fully prepared for the meeting with ITV and that I met all of the deadlines set.Successfully delivered the material in a meeting with the head of Law at ITV’s head office confidently, which was very well-received. Provided a meaningful contribution to team tasks and fostered a positive working environment with other students and produced high-quality work that mirrored the firm’s reputation. I acted on any improvements without delay in order to ensure approval of the work that was created by seniors. Engaged with all the material provided and asked meaningful questions to ensure that I was taking away as much as possible from the opportunity. Show less

      Work Experience

Social Mobility Business Partnership is a volunteer led charity which brings together over 170 businesses committed to supporting students from low-income backgrounds in their pursuit of a career, particularly as a legal or financial professional.• Attended an insight and skills week hosted Microsoft, Uber, and Verizon Media with a focus on law and digital technology. I spent time looking at different digital and legal career paths and opportunities, focused on media, technology, and communication advertisement and how this relates to the company’s legal work.• I also looked at future digital technological options and potential legal problems that the companies could face in the future. More specifically, at Microsoft, I looked at intellectual property law. Specifically, I analysed the legal challenges Microsoft faces in owning its intellectual creations and inventions.I successfully networked professionally both in-person and virtually with other students and employers from the company I met. I was able to effectively analyse a number of legal issues and challenges faced by a number of respected companies to answer challenging legal questions with confidence. I also attended several workshops that allowed me to improve my workplace skills which I applied directly to my own work. I asked insightful questions to develop my understanding of the topics beyond what was provided. Show less
