      Upon graduating from the University of Richmond in 2000, Alec spent two years at Ferguson Enterprises in showroom sales, working with homeowners, builders, and interior designers. In 2002, having decided to explore chiropractic as a career opportunity, he joined the team at Raleigh Specific Chiropractic for two years as a Chiropractic Assistant. He began his full-time chiropractic education in 2004 while working part-time as the Sunday Facilities Manager at Smyrna First United Methodist Church. He graduated in 2009 and moved his family back to Raleigh, NC, to join the practice as an associate. Show less

      Dr. Newton was the ADOE for all campus programs, as well as the Director for the CAAHEP accredited program Medical Assisting, Medical Clinical Assisting, Medical Office Administration, Phlebotomy, and EKG programs. He was fortunate to manage an extraordinary team of physicians and medical personnel who consistently guided over 150 active students enrolled in one and two-year programs, to obtain careers in their chosen fields. A diverse internal and external customer base challenged and provided opportunities for Dr. Newton and the team to have a growth mindset and find methods to support each customer where they were. In addition to being Program Director, Dr. Newton also taught a few classes each quarter, including, Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Coding and Insurance, Medical Office Systems, Law and Ethics, EHR’s, Clinical Skills, and Emergency Procedures. With day and night classes ranging in size from five to thirty-five students, he enjoys integrating different teaching and learning styles inside and outside the classroom. His administrative duties include strategic planning and implementation for compliance and quality, budget maintenance, internal and external audits, and overseeing classroom management and faculty development.       Dr. Newton is the Dean of six degree programs, including Associate Degree Nursing (ADN), Practical Nursing (PN), Health Information Technology (HIT), Medical Assisting (MA), Medical Office Administration (MOA), and Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA). He also oversees eight certificate programs, including Surgical Technology, Nurse Aide, EKG technician, and Phlebotomy, and two certificate refresher programs. As the Dean, Dr. Newton leads a diverse team of health science instructional experts to provide high-quality education in both accredited and approved curriculum programs, as well as workforce health programs. He oversees the maintenance of all nationally accredited curriculum programs and state-approved certificates, through regular review, annual reporting, and data-driven improvements. He successfully transitioned the majority of curriculum faculty to 12-month positions to offer health science courses during the summer semester, increasing student continuity, satisfaction, retention, engagement, and FTE. Dr. Newton has also increased hands-on and virtual reality simulation in health science courses with a lab component, showing a correlating increase in exams scores, critical thinking skills, and employer satisfaction.
