This might be silly, but I feel it's worth mentioning that I'd earn money as a kid by mowing, raking, shoveling for family and friends. My step-father and I would also cut, split, and deliver cords of wood around southern Wisconsin.I have always worked for what I have.

    • McDonald's Corporation

      Jan 1994 - Jan 2005
CSR, Head Trainer, Swing Manager, Assistant Manager Trainee

At legal working age (13), I started at McDonald's as a CSR and left for college as a trainer (18). I later returned to McDonald's (ages 21-24) and worked from a CSR to trainer to swing manager but moved out of state shortly after receiving assistant manager training. With 9 years experience across 4 restaurants, I've done every duty the job has to offer-- most notably as Head Trainer and as the Swing Manager who worked the daytime lunch shift (i.e. the busiest shift). Furthermore, I volunteered for the dirtier tasks that other would not do (e.g. cleaning the grill stacks). I also authored several training documents, and oversaw the training program at a Madison location. Show less

I installed software, replaced hardware, and answered user questions. Notably, I worked with a Windows 95 machine that was attached to an sheep. (She was my favorite ewe-ser.)Later, I was positioned as a network coordinator in the University of WIsconsin - Madison's Bascom Hall, where the deans and chancellor have offices. Typical duties included software installs, computer rebuilds, technical troubleshooting, email upgrades, network maintenance (Novell), physical wiring, answering user questions, and replacing tape backups for the local servers.
