I create and run 2-day workshops for young people with disabilities to help them learn self-esteem, self-advocacy, safety from abuse, internet safety, relationship building, trust circles, stress management and goal setting. I work with clients to help them figure out what programs and services will best fit their needs. These conversations take place over phone, e-mail, in-person and via social media. I advocate on clients' behalf or help them to advocate for themselves in addressing issues related to their disability. I create, update and run the blog, and social media accounts for the office, creating awareness of our organization and a strong on-line presence. I create, design and distribute a quarterly newsletter with useful information, news, and resources for people with disabilities in Saskatchewan. I also wear the hat of office manager and run the day-to-day of the office with the help of my admin assistant. This includes promotional material creation, resource updates, facilitating and creating presentations on the work of the organization, finding and utilizing awareness and media opportunities and generally making sure things run smoothly. The organization's focus is on helping people with disabilities access programs and services in Saskatchewan that will help them best deal with whatever they are needing related to their disability. Our programs are designed to educate and help people with disabilities. This isn't all the work I do, if you'd like to know more just ask, every day is a new and exciting challenge. My hat changes a dozen times a day. I find myself pushed creatively, intellectually and mentally with every new opportunity. This is the work I love, helping people, making their lives better, saving the world one person at a time, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Show less
