      Undergraduate Research Assistant

 Designed and fabricated a fused deposition modeling printer to invertedly print high temperature materials (300°C+) at 1/10th the price of commercially-available printers.  Developed a process to reuse selective laser sintering powder to create filament for a fused deposition modeling printer. Reduced waste by over 90%. Refined a method to create and print alumina ceramic stereolithography resin.

    • LUNA Innovations

      May 2018 - Aug 2019
      R&D Engineer

 Devised a protocol to test and analyze the creep of polyamide fiber imbedded in NASA’s Moon to Mars Vectran strapped inflatable space habitats.  Spliced, connectorized, and terminated single mode fiberoptic cables for various government contracts where temperature and strain measurements were needed.  Designed a mine cart to protect $300,000 worth of interrogator systems and pressure pumps to withstand mine conditions one-mile underground. Wrote LabVIEW code for the U.S. Department of Energy to parse test data within a nuclear reactor core. Granted a Q sensitive clearance by the U.S. Department of Energy. Created a LabVIEW block diagram for a 9 degree of freedom device to determine the orientation of a rubber inflatable mine packer used for fracking. Sept 2020 - Nov 2020
      Advanced Manufacturing Engineer

 Implemented methods to minimize throughput time on processes for three stages of the 7HA.03 turbine combustion blades. Designed a turbine blade water flow fixture to reduce inspection time and increase operator ergonomics. Developed a differential pressure monitor to reduce an operation’s time by 66%. Learned and utilized Lean Six Sigma workflow.

      May 2021 - Jul 2021
      Generator Finite Element Analysis Engineer

 Learned ANSYS Mechanical with a focus in static structural and modal analysis. Utilized ANSYS Classic for conditions that could not be created in ANSYS Mechanical. Analyzed a new heat exchanger gas shield design for a 4-pole large steam generator. Determined root cause analyses for fiberglass air guides on H65 and H84 generator models. Manufacturing of the fiberglass composite was the culprit. Structurally analyzed a seal casing assembly for a root cause analysis. Micro-dieseling due to fluid flow through the deflected geometry was the culprit. Show less
