  Restaurant Host/Table Attendant

  I worked in the lone restaurant of Pacific Palms Resort, "Red Restaurant & Bar" for two separate summers. My first summer there, I worked as a Host, and learned many skills from constantly interacting with customers, relaying information to servers, and planning and organizing future days for larger parties and events. Every day was different, but in a good way. I was constantly learning and gained a great deal of understanding for how the restaurant business works and what goes into it. My second year there, I worked as a Table Attendants. Table Attendant's consisted of both bussing and food running. Bussing came naturally, and I took great enjoyment working directly with servers to make sure customers were taken care of. Other activities such as cleaning tables, setting up large parties, and restocking came naturally. Food Running, on the other hand, was a completely different challenge. Standing back in the kitchen and relaying information directly to the cooks was something that took me a while to get used to, but once I got the hang of it, I loved it. Lunch and dinner rushes were filled with long stretches of adrenaline as the ticket line got longer and longer, and once food was ready, it was my job to put the plates on trays and deliver customers their food. Seeing customers light up when their food was placed in front of them was one of, if not my favorite, parts of the whole job. Show less
