  Responsible for the management of all highway construction and maintenance operational activities across the County of Nottinghamshire ensuring that works are delivered in line with budget and business plan objectives. The annual turnover in the region of £15 million and the team consisted of 30 managerial staff and 150 Frontline operatives, who are area based teams at numerous depots.Ensure that operations were carried out in a commercially astute manner to achieve value for money and in accordance with client specification and satisfaction and that all performance indicators are met. In order to achieve this, my resources had to be planned and used effectively and I had to ensure that my Operations Managers and Works Managers maintained financial control including budgets.I actively promoted a safe working environment for all operations and employees, including partners and sub-contractors and ensure that all work was carried out in safe manner, in accordance with company policies/procedures and that employees were fully trained and competent.I jointly prepared project and programme cost value reports with the commercial/estimating team and also liaised with them to provide value engineering solutions, which not only includes in-house/internal works but also external competitive tenders for clients. I also assisted in recognising new and changing client targets and I continually sought new and alternative approaches to works delivery to ensure service delivery was value for money, responsive and that we not only maintain our good reputation but improved it to enable us to secure future work.I have an excellent working knowledge of the latest construction and engineering techniques and regularly keep up to date with the latest industry innovations.
