Founder/Owner/Sewist, Mixed Media Artist and Deisgner

Employing skills acquired over a lifetime enjoyment of sewing and quilting, I undertook numerous courses, both live and online to transform what was a hobby and passion into a cottage industry specializing in the design and making of customized high-end sewn items, as well as contract sewing. Lending my expertise to the ideas of others, I produced works that could be displayed as art, worn, or utilized in daily living. Traditional and non-traditional methodologies were used, along with mixed media techniques to produce unique and useful goods for individuals, their homes, pets and businesses. Quilts, handbags, home décor items, as well as infant and pet apparel were among the most sought after. Alteration and embellishment work were also services provided. Equipment used included consumer sewing machines, including those with embroidery modules as well as sergers. Show less

Serving as Chair of Volunteers while continuing in my work as a Level III Caseworker in Fallon.Served as Chair of the Fallon's FSO Executive Board• Responsible for orientation and coordination of in-person and online training of volunteers to ensure they felt confident in the Society’s vision, as well as its commitment to their success, in their role as a volunteer, providing insights into how the knowledge and experience gained could be an asset, personally and professionally. Provided guidance and instruction about the personal financial management issues facing Service members and their families and the Society’s programs available to support them with individual assistance through workshops or through appropriate referral information.• Utilized business management and leadership skills acquired throughout my professional life in my role as Chair of Volunteers; personal commitment to continued professional development provided multiple learning opportunities and teachable moments.• Volunteer Leadership development was the foundation for the work I had done previously, but it is the guidance of our Area Trainer and Society resources that made the transition to service as COV possible.• Established and monitored scheduling, team building and recognition activities with and for our volunteers. COVID-19 limited opportunities to connect in person, but creative thinking allowed us to recognize our volunteers.• Continuously worked to ensure the safety of our volunteers and clients. Implemented NMCRS guidelines, as well as those of all federal, state and local agencies, including those specific to NASF were the foundation for all action plans. • Through effective case management, client focused one-on-one financial counseling, and budget reviews, emergency financial disbursements continued uninterrupted. The Director and I work collaboratively to ensure that the outside resources shared with our volunteers for our clients remained current so work could continue. Show less The mission of the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society is to provide, in partnership with the Navy and Marine Corps, financial, educational, and other assistance to members of the Naval Service of the United States, eligible family members, and survivors when in need; and to receive and manage funds to administer these programs. As a non-profit, volunteer service organization, it uses both financial and non-financial resources to identify solutions to meet emerging needs, help clients improve personal financial skills and encourage individual financial responsibility.I volunteered as both a Client Services Assistant and a Caseworker while at NMCRS Lemoore; I also briefly served as Clients Services Assistant Lead. Lead responsibilities included working with the Chair of Volunteers in the recruitment, scheduling, training, and mentorship of program volunteers, while providing feedback and recognition to these volunteers. In addition, I worked to support the program by participating in the promotion of the Active Duty Fund Drive and Lunch and Learn program presentations with a focus on, social networking and team building activities.
