    • Retro-Fit

      Jan 2003 - Jan 2006
      Owner

Retro-Fit started as a simple remodeling and maintenance business. We specialized in working on income properties and restaurants. Eventually, I opened a second business—actually a parallel business. It took on the name ‘Retro-Fit’ as well but was truly an open public forum which was financed mostly by the ‘spoils’ of the maintenance business. The open forum was turned over to community volunteers who organized to create a gallery and meeting spot. They produced events ranging from poetry readings to heated debates between candidates for city council. The open forum was intended to provide a different avenue for community collaboration. The valuable lessons I learned there I’ve taken with me and continue to find ways to bring people and organizations together to maximize collaboration. Show less
