  The objective of this government-funded Corporation was to increase employment through funding and supporting various community initiatives. As Director and Treasurer from 1990-94, Steve implemented a financial system and financial reporting processes for the organization as well as contributed to the development and implementation of several key local projects.

  Steve was actively involved in this government-sponsored organization whose objectives included supporting the development of employment through creation of new small businesses. The corporation provided funding to start-up organizations and assisted with the development of business plans and strategies. Potential businesses were assessed for business plan viability, potential, strategy, available resources and employment creation. As the sole CA on the Board, Steve contributed to the development of a standardized set of assessment and lending criteria and financial performance metrics against which sponsored businesses were measured.   This group’s mandate was to raise the profile of the Arts in the Burlington Community and raise funds for the construction and sustainability of a new Performing Arts Centre, which opened in 2011. Steve was actively involved with other local business and government team members in garnering community support for the project through meetings and discussions with key local business people and organizations to gain commitment regarding support and funding.
