Mentored juniors and peers alike about the university application process in various countries including the USA, UK, and Turkey. Counseled a group of 7 students, gave them feedback on their personal statements and edited over 30 essays, most of which were eventually successful. Introduced the idea of teaching peers lacking behind in studies during recess and after classes. Spent countless hours explaining exam problems to many peers suffering in mathematics and physics free of cost. Helped many such students get through GCE Advanced Level qualifications. Re-established the Mathematics Society and strived to make Math fun for everyone. Organized the first-ever Mathematics Scavenger Hunt and attracted over 150 students from O-Levels. Created interesting math riddles and hid solutions all over the campus. Ultimately distributed cash prizes to the winning team and received an overwhelming response from the students and administration alike. Set foundation for future Scavenger Hunts. Served as the President of my high school Model UN. Regulated all directorates and ensured the smooth flow of events. Personally attended all committee sessions to verify proper conduct.

In this workshop, I built a model glider airplane with the help of an instructor. I got introduced to the structure of a wing, such as ribs, spars, stringers, and skin. Used cutting tools and sandpaper to shape the above-mentioned structures from thin planks of wood according to a blueprint. Finally, attached my wing structure to a plastic fuselage to complete my glider.

    • Aviation Training Hub

      Feb 2021 - Mar 2021
      Aircraft Maintenance Intern

I conducted my summer practice at the Aviation Training Hub located in Islamabad, Pakistan. ATH is an institute that provides EASA B1/B2 Training and Examinations in collaboration with Heinze Akademie, Hamburg, Germany, a training institute founded in 1937. I got familiar with all the departments, whether it be the student affairs office, admissions office, training faculty, or the hangar. I had three main tasks to perform during this summer practice:1. I had to take some lectures to get familiar with aircraft maintenance. 2. I had to acquaint myself with the various aircraft components in the hangar and the tools used in multiple tasks.3. I had to perform maintenance checks along with the students and understand how an aircraftmaintenance engineer maintains logs.At the end of this internship, I was familiar with the difference between aerospace and aircraft maintenance engineers. I learned about the basic checks in line maintenance and got introduced to many engineering tools which I am expected to use in my daily life. Show less

I am working with Asst. Prof. Dr. Halil Ersin Söken as part of my elective research project in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at ODTÜ. My study involves comparing three-axis attitude determination algorithms such as TRIAD, SVD, QUEST, and Davenport's q Method, implementing filtering algorithms such as the Kalman Filter (KF), the Extended Kalman Filter (EKF), and the Multiplicative Extended Kalman Filter (MEKF), and researching optical navigation and attitude determination using space imaging systems. I am excited to work in this field and I look forward to implementing visual navigation algorithms for a moon mission! Show less

Control, Guidance and Navigation Technologies Intern

I conducted my internship at Baykar Technologies, located in Istanbul, Turkey. Baykar has rapidly emerged as Turkey’s leading UAV and AI Company, with more than 400 UAVs delivered to date and a workforce of over 1400 hardworking employees. I was accepted to the simulation team under the Kontrol, Güdüm ve Seyrüsefer Teknolojileri (KGST) department. My mentor was very supportive of my growth and learning. I was assigned weekly tasks and had to present what I learned the previous week. The goal of the internship was to study the role of simulation in aircraft development. To this end, I studied multiple books and implemented my knowledge by working on a nonlinear 6DOF simulator. In keeping with the Republic of Turkey Law No. 5201 and Defense Industry Security Law No. 5202 on Inspection of Warfare Equipment and Industrial Establishments producing Weapons, Ammunition, and Explosives, only Baykar Technologies has the right to allow what to disclose publicly. Since I could not share my studies at Baykar Technologies, I will not attach any code or results for the simulation I worked on. Control System Designer for a Fighter UAV

I am thrilled to be joining this young, ecstatic, and diverse group of individuals. METU Comet is our university's only space team, and it has achieved many milestones in the last few years under different team names. I will be working in the "Savaşan IHA" subteam, which aims to design (conceptual, preliminary, and detailed) a combat drone for the upcoming competition in Teknofest 2022. My task is to research, plan, design, and implement a control system for this UAV. In this final expedition before graduation, I will be learning useful drone controller development tools, including PX4 autopilot, Gazebo simulator, Robot Operating System (ROS), ROS2, and QGroundControl mission planner. Ultimately, I hope to become fluent in controllers for drones to implement them in my future projects.I am looking forward to a hectic semester! Show less

    • TÜBİTAK

      May 2022 - Mar 2023
TÜBİTAK 2209-A — Research Project Support Program for Undergraduate Students

My ongoing individual project proposal titled “Visual Navigation Methods for a Spacecraft in a Moon Mission” has been entitled to receive support from TÜBİTAK within the scope of 2209-A — Research Project Support Program for Undergraduate Students. The research aims to design and implement a visual navigation algorithm that uses images from cameras on the spacecraft as measurements to help with the problem of setting orientations for a lunar mission. The camera on an exploratory spacecraft provides a lot of useful information, such as the visible position of the horizon of the observed object. If this digital image can be rendered as a known shape, the observed horizon can help determine the spacecraft’s relative orientation and location. In the case of large objects in the Solar System, celestial bodies are usually spherical or elliptical and reflect a conical image for the horizon. Recently, efforts have been made to develop non-iterative and analytical algorithms to solve every possible combination of conic shapes and unknown parameters. After these images are processed, they feed into the filtering algorithm to solve the attitude determination problem. I will use the QUEST algorithm to obtain the attitude quaternion in this project, integrated with the gyroscope measurement in a MEKF (Multiplicative Extended Kaman Filter) algorithm to get the attitude solution.Based on my advisor’s recommendation, the center of the Earth and the corners of a fit ellipsoid will be used as a measurement. Similarly, I will use the lunar images from a second camera to support the resolution process and predict the spacecraft’s orientation around three axes. My ultimate goal is to predict the satellite’s three-axis orientation only through measurements from the cameras. The proposed image-based orientation estimation algorithm for the Lunar mission will be tested in different scenarios, such as different distances to Earth and the moon, and the results will be analyzed. The onslaught caused by a water crisis can lead to many complexities in an area. Hence, we were to design a complete, self-contained system that allows a single household to collect, filter, and recycle all water that the household would otherwise dispose of into the city's sewage system. There were multiple hard-set requirements for this project. The first requirement was that all recycled water must be stored in easily accessible methods and divided into drinkable and non-drinkable water. Another requirement was a minimal waste, i.e., all residual material must also be used in meaningful ways. The system should also be environmentally sustainable and not disrupt any existing architecture.AquaTopia is a solution to all your water problems at home. From rainwater purification to gray water filtration to fog catching, we offer sustainable and eco-friendly solutions to ensure minimal water demand and maximum reclamation. Following extensive research discussed in this report, it was concluded that our application is cost-effective, easily implementable, storable (for four people for one week), and sustainable. Since the appliance is divided into different functions and filters, it is easily possible to divide it into drinkable and non-drinkable. Similarly, all the water is being used for some application, and any waste product from filtration can be used as compost in the soil. Moreover, the design can be considered environmentally sustainable since we are preventing water loss, and we integrated a geo-wall onto the storage tank. Finally, the appliances are aesthetically pleasing and do not disrupt the house's architecture or ground plan. Show less
