  I was given the responsibilities to carry out various tests to standard on the samples to be used throughout the project work and this include but not limited to soil samples from burrow pits, bitumen, mix design for concrete and asphalt, petroleum products and aggregates test• I ensure that all safety measures are taken during testing of soil and aggregates samples• Responsible for soil classification test including sieve analysis, liquid limit, plastic limit, specific gravity etc.• Conduct test related to compacted characteristics like; MDD/OMC, CBR etc.• Mechanical and physical testing on sub grade and sub base materials• Mechanical and physical testing of aggregates used for concrete• Supervised concrete casting for bridge, piling, pile cap, columns, plinth, abutment, blinding, line drain and precast structures. Also Carried out compressive strength for concrete• Document, maintain and update records related to QA/ QC• Responsible for sampling of fresh concrete as per BS standard, slump test etc.• Responsible for concrete cube casting• Determination of bitumen content in asphalt by the extraction method• Marshall stability and flow, Asphalt core samples, thickness checking and Bulk specific gravity• Responsible for checking Asphalt temperature at the batch plant on site• Designing of sand cement and achieving it as it was design on site• Determination of density of in-situ asphalt laying density using the pavement quality indicator (PQI)• Asphalt plant scale calibration using pre-determined standard weights• Rebound hammer test on hardened ,concrete• Density test on mixed bitumen/ cut-backs (MC-1, S-125, and Emulsions)• Tray test on cut-backs and determination of rate of spray• Tray test on aggregates and determination of rate of spray for surface dressing• Mix design for bitumen cut-backs• Plate Bearing (load) Test and determination of bearing capacity of in-situ pavement layers as per BS 1377: part 9, 1990 Show less
