      Apr 2000 - Feb 2012
      TV Systems Programmer

Developed a radar image processing system using C++, C#, and DirectX. This replaced a software-only based rendering system. A process that previously took 2-3 minutes of processing time every 5 minutes, now only takes 20-40 seconds in that same 5 minute period. This removed a considerable processing load from our current data ingestion system, allowing for the processing of additional products.Co-Developed a data ingestion system using Java. This system currently runs on Windows and Linux. This software is now being used across several lines of business at AccuWeather.Developed a script engine written in C# using MS SQL as a data backend. This software is used as a data ingestion engine with the current high end TV graphics display system. The engine uses an extensible plugin system, allowing the development of new processing features that doesn’t require the rework or release of the entire engine. This has saved hundreds to thousands of developer hours.Co-Developed a second generation severe weather display system running on Linux. Updated various user interfaces using the QT SDK, and a few backend ingestion components. This development added valuable features/sales points to this software.Developed a GIS application used to navigate world terrain maps for broadcast display systems. This application helped ensure the display accuracy of weather data on client systems.Spent time training support staff on various software packages, and helping them hone their troubleshooting skills. Also assisted with client emergencies that required a developer to help troubleshoot. Show less
