      Mechanical Trainer/Assessor

My role within Gen2 was a trainer / assessor to 2nd year apprentices when at the Sellafield Site. My main duties included the training and assessing of different mechanical subjects to NVQ level 3 such as, bench fitting activities, various pipe fitting tasks, shaft alignment and bearing maintenance of things like Rollers, Fan Units etc., maintenance of valves and pumps, fault finding diagnostics including planned and break down maintenance, and various other courses to suit the needs of the learners serving their apprenticeship within Gen2, who will then go on to work for their chosen employer Sellafield LTD. We followed site Safe Systems of Work and adhered to the correct Maintenance procedures to fall in line with Site Standards, as this gets the apprentices ready for all future regulations they will work too. I was involved with writing up Risk Assessments within the work place and reviewing these annually. I was often needed to assess apprentices who were coming to the end of their apprenticeship which involved knowing the qualification and curriculum so as to be able to tell the apprentices exactly what they needed to complete their qualification. Most tasks I did were workshop based but some courses include classroom presentations and delivering theory to the apprentices. Show less
