      Bachelor in Biology Conservation with a thesis on Conservation Genetics Bachelor Degree in Bilogy

      I did my undergraduate thesis on the Institutio de Ecologia de la UNAM on Pronghorn Antelope conservation genetics with Dr. Rodrigo Medellin and Dr. Oliver Ryder. I also worked with Carlos Manterola, Patricio Roble Gill, and Rodrigo Medellin on conservation and management programs for threatened Mexican species.       I did my PhD thesis on Deforestation drivers and its impact on jaguar habitat loss with Norman Christensen. Alex Pfaff as well was an important member of my PhD committee, with whom I learn a lot on environmental economics.

      I started the Conservation Demography unit at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research. The unit's main goal was to apply the demographic methods developed at the Institute for the Conservation and management of Biodiversity. However, the lack of reliable data to implement those methods has driven me to dig in to find knowledge gaps and opportunities to fill them. I am passionate about this topic now. Currently I have 2 Phd students that are working on very exiting projects on how to use data from different sources to fill up knowledge gaps to inform policies to manage species threatened with extinction.
