    • KCA Deutag

      May 2012 - now

Originally transferred onto the Ninians Central Platform located within the Northern Sector of the North Sea, after the KCA Deutag Drilling contract ended on the BBLT platform in Angola West Africa. I was primarily brought onboard as part of a small Rig Reactivation Team. The work duties involved project work including the dismantling and overhauling of various pieces of drilling equipment. This included the platform Top Drive, Shale Shakers, Mud pumps, Centrifugal pumps, Cement unit, Pit room agitator gearboxes and replacing all off the bulk valves throughout the drilling package. It also included removing a redundant Koomey unit and the complete installation of a new CAD. Unit, and all the respective pipework. Once this reactivation work was finalised a drilling programme was assigned to the platform by Canadian Natural Resources (CNR) and we are currently working on this drilling campaign. I was asked by KCA Deutag to stay on as a Resident Senior Rig Mechanic whenever we had completed the reactivation work which I accepted. The drilling package onboard Ninians Central Platform is first generation with various upgrades to more modern equipment. My role now is to maintain and repair the equipment on the rig to minimize NPT. The Permit to work system used is ISSOW which I have now obtained PA, AT, MIA1 & MIA2 privileges. The maintenance computer software used by CNR is the Maximo System to assist us with planning and scheduling the preventive maintenance work scopes, and allow us to log repairs and to order and track spares etc. This is also very helpful with tracking equipment history. Show less Resident Senior Rig Mechanic responsible for the planned maintenance and repair of all respective Drilling equipment on a 5th generation Cyber drilling rig. Working within a small maintenance team performing fault diagnoses safely and producing efficient repairs o minimize NPT. Utilizing a company worldwide standard maintenance computer program SAP to source and order parts in a challenging region of the world. Work is completed with the mentoring and assistance of Angolan National employees. With a vigorous and effective drilling program directed by Chevrons drilling team. A wide variety of equipment is worked on by us with very little assistance from 3rd party companies due to visa difficulties etc. Show less
