As the Director of the Learning & Development (L&D) team at the Oregon Humane Society, I've led the creation and implementation of comprehensive strategies to enhance organizational capabilities and performance. My team has developed a dynamic learning ecosystem that has positively impacted over 300 staff across three campuses. Working closely with organizational leaders, we've successfully integrated L&D practices into the society's broader mission, enriching both employee development and organizational excellence. Show less In my role at the Oregon Humane Society, I led the Volunteer Engagement and Humane Education Departments as well as the Emergency Response Team, managing a 34-person Technical Animal Rescue team that handles over 400 requests annually. I developed an equity-driven, multi-year volunteer engagement strategy while also establishing the organization's Incident Command System in the initial week of the COVID-19 pandemic. My leadership was key in navigating teams through a merger with Willamette Humane, and I continuously evaluated and adapted our programs to align with organizational goals, including diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Show less In my role overseeing the Humane Education Department and Youth Volunteer Program, I integrated these areas to create a more cohesive experience for young volunteers, while also securing a grant to make the program more accessible for underserved schools. I dramatically increased active volunteers from 2,000 to over 7,000 by expanding opportunities for episodic and virtual volunteering, and implemented a leadership volunteer structure that boosted donor engagement. Additionally, I led a team that maintained 16,000 annual engagement touchpoints, including partnerships with notable organizations and serving on key committees to further the organization's mission. Show less In my role, I managed a team responsible for leading and developing over 2,000 active volunteers, implementing a structure of leadership, mentors, and anchors to train and guide newer volunteers. I established department liaisons and regular leadership meetings to improve communication between staff and volunteer leaders, while overseeing a large budget and effectively reporting measurable outcomes to stakeholders, including board members. In addition, I planned and executed large-scale events like an annual 500-person volunteer party, volunteer appreciation events, and various workshops to foster community and engagement. Show less In my role, I spearheaded the development of an animal transfer program, creating marketing tools, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and admissions manuals, while establishing valuable partnerships across the West Coast. I managed all facets of animal intake, including logistics, volunteer training, and inventory monitoring to align with organizational goals and customer satisfaction. Alongside managing a diverse team and budget, I also developed a TED Talk-style presentation for the New Road Ahead Project to promote the Second Chance Program, maintaining regular reporting to stakeholders for performance assessment and course correction.
