  a) I was part of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, uMkhanyakude District Municipality and Water Research Commission Project (Project K5/2259). The study showed the relationship between different soil types and infiltration rates in order to be able to identify areas of high recharge as well as areas of low recharge in the Mgobozeleni Catchment as an input for a hydrological model; andb) I was also a Student Assistant at the University of Zululand. I assisted with practical demonstrations and field work on the following modules:• Geographic Information Systems (GIS); • Surface and Groundwater Modelling;• Calibrations;• Stream flow measurements; and• Groundwater measurements i.e. Geophysics instruments.
