Responsible for managing programs related to aftermarket windshield wipers and LV & CV friction pads (OE& aftermarket). Adapted and implemented global standard APQP process for aftermarket wiper blades and CV friction for North America (including US and Mexican production facilities). Managed team from quotation phase to launch of production while coordinating technical, commercial, and manufacturing activities to achieve customer and business requirements.■ Led final preparations for closure of manufacturing facility managing bridge-build inventory and SOP of transferred product to protect customers during transition and implementation of material consolidation to simplify raw material requirements.■ Launched best-in-class wiper technology 25% faster than previously achieved.■ Support urgent transfer of $US10.5M friction production from Thailand to US due to Thai facility flooding by coordinating global effort between Thai and US teams resulting in transfer and SOP of 8 OE brake pad programs for Ford & Toyota within 10 weeks to avoid vehicle manufacturer shut-down.■ Managed launch packaging for 400 SKU’s from Mexican and US friction pad manufacturing facilities.■ Managed VAVE launch of new wiper blade technology for annual savings of $US2.1M.■ Identified opportunities for price increases based on technical value over competitors resulting in gross margin increase of ~10% or $5/unit (25k pcs/yr). Show less Managed all programs related to in-region production launches, championed standard processes while leading and coaching cross-functional teams, trained newly hired program managers and coached in daily activities.■ As champion for implementation of corporate APQP process, trained Chinese team and led introduction with new product launches. Obtained buy-in from regional functional managers ensuring alignment of objectives.■ As main customer contact for Korean, Thai, Indian, and Chinese programs, led cross-functional teams to ensure customer requirements related to feasibility, performance, and quality for samples and start of production. ■ Supported on-site preparation for global customer audits (North American, European, Chinese, and Japanese) to Chinese and Thai manufacturing teams through layered audit activity resulting in revision of APQP documentation (control plans, work instructions, standards and procedures). Thailand audit resulted in award of largest single program in Thailand facility ■ Perceived critical gap when reviewing customer complaints and global manufacturing capability data. Initiated global discussion and led regional team in efforts to understand root cause, identify opportunities for improving product quality and reducing variation, implement global best practices, and communicate improvements to customer.■ Supported start up of sales and engineering in India by managing communication between business pursuit team and manufacturing team to ensure customer technical, quality, and documentation requirements were met. Show less Responsible to develop and implement product design strategy to meet or exceed customer application requirements as well as interface with local and global customer release engineers. Participated in development of global design standards and procedures and led regional implementation. ■ Chosen to be first product engineer in China for Sealing-Systems, supported assembly of engineering team and exponential growth of business in Chinese market for first major programs servicing local Chinese customers.■ Trained product, application, and sales engineers on both general market and proprietary technology adding competence and confidence to engineering support of customers.■ Acted as liaison between global experts and Chinese engineers to best satisfy customer application requirements. Ensuring appropriate product design through effective use of DFMEA, FEA, DVP&R, design reviews, prototype testing, failure analysis, technical reports, on-site testing, and participation in customer meetings.■ Presented new proprietary technologies to customers offering improved balance between performance and cost reduction for existing and new applications leading to increased market share and competitiveness in region. Show less Responsible to design and develop products to meet or exceed customer application requirements as well as interface with customer release engineers. Responsible for adaptation and implementation of design process for Chinese market. Participated in new technology development.■ Design products through effective use of DFMEA, FEA, DVP&R, design reviews, prototype testing, failure analysis, technical reports, on-site testing, and participation in customer meetings.■ Developed models using Unigraphics and ProE, and conducted FEA with Abaqus.■ Designed validation testing modeling the application environment (durability, thermal-cycling, etc..) to resolve failure of valve cover through application of FEA and product design. Show less Responsible for designing and conducting experiments using industrial microwave, laser, and exothermic technology. Identified opportunities within company where specific application of novel technologies posed step-change benefit. Worked with customer (internal) to understand and overcome bottlenecks. ■ Microwave and laser experimentation and process development using, PC and robotic controls, and data acquisition equipment.■ Installed thermal processing lab by purchasing and assembling convection oven, industrial microwave generator, and data acquisition equipment. Built PC interface for controlling industrial microwave and data acquisition. Show less
