The activity intends to strengthen government service delivery of disability-inclusive education and create inclusive school environments and instruction for children with disabilities to improve student learning outcomes. Show less Since August 2017, more than 740,000 Rohingya people have fled to Bangladesh to escape violence in Burma’s Rakhine State. The speed and scale of the refugee flows has resulted in a critical emergency affecting Bangladeshi communities throughout the district, although not all upazilas of Cox’s Bazaar have been impacted uniformly. Some Bangladeshis are benefitting from employment opportunities created by the humanitarian influx, but for many poverty is increasing as wages decline and prices for transportation and certain foods increase. The Rohingya influx has thus deepened the plight of already struggling schools throughout Cox’s Bazaar. In this context the consultant extended support to provide services to achieve the following four results: (1) Increasing Learning opportunities, (2) Improving Quality of education in selected subjects, (3) Capacity to plan, manage, and oversee quality education by the District & Upazila Offices including the Community and (4) Means of increasing School community capacity to prepare for and respond to the impacts of natural disasters.
