  Involved in the testing of all incoming raw materials to produce perfumes and body-care products, using a variety of laboratory equipment.Carrying out infrared analysis using a gas chromatography machine in conjunction with smelling one batch of material against the last batch and the master batch samples, I was able to determine whether the raw materials were to the standards that had been agreed and paid for.Having excellent people skills to enable good written and verbal communication enabled me to prepare certificates of analysis for all products being shipped to the customer. Maintaining high standard of customer service by carrying out procedures to strict rules and regulations, the substances had strict safety standards for storage, handling, use, and could be extremely hazardous if guidelines had not been followed.I managed the laboratory equipment, maintained the laboratory areas, and carried out daily calibration checks to ensure the accuracy of all testing undertaken. I studied more about the industry and was placed onto a perfumery course to enhance my knowledge of the manufacturing of scents and how to create certain smells and moods using different oils and natural products.   Providing technical advice and testing on paper/board packaging materials, ensuring that material quality standards were maintained using company test methods and material specifications to select the correct grade of material for the intended use. Once selected, the manufacturing cells would run the products and print the relevant graphics onto the boxes for distribution to the various depots across the UK.Organising the collection of samples from all the company sites for routine trial and correlation test purposes, this data was then fed into the database, so that the technical advice could be enhanced and allow better selection of materials for the next customer. Recording all routine test results, conducting trials on specified materials, and determining testing schedules. The factory was dedicated to manufacturing food grade packaging and strict hygiene/safety procedures had to be followed and maintained. The remaining packaging was for retailers such as supermarkets for palletising bulk items for transport to warehouses, and returnable crates or cartons.Problem solving production issues with running materials, machine stoppages, suggesting solutions, ideas, and presenting my findings to all team members.
