Doctor of Liberal Studies, ABD Exploring the intersection of moral development and online learning

Activities and Societies: Part-time doctoral program, on top of full time employment in administration of classroom technology, plus teaching online. My dissertation topic is at the intersection of moral development and online education. If an institution of higher learning wants to give its graduates a moral compass to help them use wisely their newly-acquired knowledge, how, exactly, is that done when the entire degree program is online, and the student may never set foot on campus? Georgetown’s Doctor of Liberal Studies immerses the student at the intersection of multiple disciplines. Students with at least one advanced degree (often multiple graduate degrees) study subject areas such as the humanities, public policy, international affairs, religion, and science while examining their effects on modern-day society. The student learns how to synthesize his or her existing knowledge in new and innovative ways while mastering skills in perception, analysis, communication, and creative thinking. The dissertation provides new knowledge that can be applied to practice or professional life, to benefit the broader society. Show less

    • Georgetown University

      1982 - 1987
      A.B. American Government

Activities and Societies: SFS Proficiency in German (1987) To the best of my knowledge, I was the only student in Georgetown College to qualify for the SFS proficiency in German in the 20th Century. I obtained my undergraduate degree in six semesters spread out over five years, due to family circumstances, including my father's untimely passing. Despite loads of 19 or 20 credits per semester, I still managed to compile a GPA within .005 of cum laude at a major international research university.

    • Georgetown University Law Center

      1987 - 1991
      JD Law

Activities and Societies: Managing Editor, Georgetown International Environmental Law Review My law degree prepared me for my prior career in legal private practice, which I left in 1995 to return to academia. But it provided me a solid analytical base and writing skills, with the tools to thoroughly review contracts and legal documents, to negotiate with many different types of actors in the AV and IT marketplace, and to thoughtfully and forcefully advocate for my employer, and for the causes which I hold dear.
