In my final years, I was involved with Young Enterprise, a organisation aimed to promote and enhance entrepreneurial skills in young adults. Our team created a price comparison app called Valu£ it. From this we gained valuable experience, not only from our individual roles but as a team, seeing what rewards hard work can create. We won a variety of awards, and I personally won an award for my role as Administration and IT Director. I completed my final year at school as a part of the school's leadership team as House Captain. I liaisoned with both senior members of staff and fellow pupils to ensure everyone's voice was heard. The award was created for me as I organised a charity week for my role as House Captain. I decided to raise money for the Bridges Project in Musselburgh, who help young vulnerable adults have a brighter future. I had to organise various events in order to raise enough money and contact outside sources to make these events worthwhile. During this charity week, I had to work conscientiously for months in order for all my events within the week to become a success – which thankfully they did! I organised an Independence Referendum debate with local councillors and fellow pupils to try and engage every pupil, voting age or not, in this massive political decision that would change our country. I ensured there was no bias, and each councillor had two pupils debating with them on their side. I wanted to inform pupils who were of an age to vote on both sides of the campaign, without being tainted with bias. In this period I learnt how to efficiently work on my own and create successful outcomes under pressuring time limits. Show less
