  In 2004, I got the idea to create an own software program for small businesses which has the same capabilities and advantages as for example Exact software. Especially as independent professional/freelancer one cannot spend thousands of euros on software. After 3 years of full-time trying and testing, I came up with a blueprint of a software program which can be extended in the future. Because several customers were looking for such a program I included them right away as pilot.The software is also made to fit in almost every industry. The challenge is to meet the client's wishes as much as possible – provided they fit within the software design – and to implement this. Sometimes customer A wants a button there and customer B somewhere else. By building the software modular and with extendable libraries and components, you can also reuse it in other projects or as I have done as a backend of some websites.The first version of the software used a Microsoft Access database with multiple users within a network environment, however this was too slow. Therefore I switched to Microsoft SQL Server that works much more efficiently.For about 3 years I switched to SQL Azure. The main reason is that customers no longer need an own dedicated server with SQL Server for the database that was required. Also in terms of maintenance costs and operational costs this was a huge money saver. Beyond all this, it was also even safer because of the automated backups. Show less

  Lamark is a test center with about 35 locations nationwide that facilitates in taking certified and recognized exams (thinking of training of police, fire department, NTI, insurance and brokers). During these exams they require that the examiner can monitor the examinee by a webcam. Of course every location has different amount of cams installed.I have created for them 2 applications that do the following.1. Clienta. Client initializes and automatically start the webcamb. Client makes a TCP connection to the terminalc. At the request of the Client terminal sends an image frame of the camera2. Terminala. Terminal starts a TCP listener to accept all incoming connectionsb. Terminal retrieves per time interval of each client set an image and displays it in a separate section of the terminalc.   Marel Lichtenvoorde builds complete slaughter lines for pigs and cows (red meat).For these machines, documentation must be made for end customers that contains, for example, manuals, spare parts and CE statements.Initially, four Visual Basic applications and an Access application were used for this.Together they produced the necessary documentation in the form of a chm help file.This process was very cumbersome and often took a very long time, especially if multiple languages have to be published or the publication had to be rebuild again due to adjustments or errors.According to the people who carried out the publication, this could take several hours.By creating one application that bundles all the needed functionality in a service oriented manner, we can now complete the publication in minutes including multiple languages.It is also possible to customize the publication and save changes for future projects.By using SOLID principles as much as possible, the application will be more expandable and sustainable towards the future.   CGM makes software for pharmacies and general practitioners.Many of the GPs use the incorporated scheduler in this CGM application.This scheduler is based on the DevExpress scheduling control. During the migration of the control to the latest version, it appears that it is very dependent on the MVVM principle.As a result, many experience considerable performance loss in the scheduler after the upgrade.My task will be to investigate this and find a solution within a very short time.
