I learned a lot of new things related to cyber security and got to know how vulnerable our systems and networks can be. The network is never 100% safe, there are various hackers and attackers who constantly work to find a flaw in the network and try to exploit it. Keeping this in mind, I choose the topic Machine Learning in Intrusion Detection System for my dissertation. The main objective of the project was to find a dataset replicating real world attacks, and then using different machine learning models in order to calculate the accuracy and efficiency of the system. I used supervised learning techniques for this project as I worked on labelled dataset. Besides this, I used Python programming language as it comes with various libraries to handle the data proficiently. The outcome of each classifier used was analysed and some interesting observations were made. Show less
