      Oversaw the day-to-day operations of the following city departments: the City Council Office, Vital Records and Elections. This included supervising 17 employees and managing an annual budget of approximately $900,000+.In an effort to improve the office, I have implemented the following programs:Digitized a significant portion of the City’s Historical and current records for easy online access.Hired and trained a public records coordinator, who works with me, to manage every public records request that the city receives.Purchased and maintained public records software that allows citizens to easily submit and track public records requests.Modernized City Council processes which include: the digital dissemination of the City Council Agendas, Ipads for each City Councilor and the adoption of digital agenda management software. Show less Defended the City of Springfield in the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the First Circuit Court of Appeals and the Massachusetts Superior Court. Provided legal advice and drafted legislation for the Springfield City Council on issues ranging from land use and zoning to casino gaming and committee appointments. Negotiated on the City's behalf before the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, HUD's Office of Fair Housing and the Office of United States Attorney.       In 2015, a group black professionals and entrepreneurs formed the Association of Black Business and Professionals (ABBP) for the purpose of connecting black business professionals in Massachusetts. I am proud to say that I am one of the founding members. I drafted the by-laws of the organization, helped create our strategic plan and shepherded the board through the process of incorporation.

I manage a team of two (son and daughter). It is very challenging keeping this team focused on their immediate tasks but we are growing and improving daily.

      Appointed by the Mayor to represent the City of Springfield on the Pioneer Valley Transit Authority Board. In that capacity, I reviewed and approved the budget for the PVTA for each fiscal year. Participated in the search and selection of a new administrator in 2017. Participated in the approval of a fleet of electrified buses for the PVTA. Oversaw the funding and construction of a $55 million, state-of-the-art operations and maintenance center.

This included supervising 10 employees and managing an annual budget of approximately $1 million.Lead the office through the COVID-19 pandemic. This included transitioning all of our in-person services to a virtual platform. Purchased and developed software to allow the public to interact with the city council on a virtual platform.Led a multi-departmental effort to streamline and standardize record filing and retrieval from the Clerk's Office. This entailed the creation of a customized digital filing, retrieval and tracking system.Oversaw the construction of 2000 square feet of archival grade storage for city records. Show less
