Also, I played college baseball for all four years. In 1968, just before the controversial olympics, I spent the summer in the mountains of Tlaxcala, Mexico in a work-study project ran by the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC). Awesome experience attending this new and dynamic HBCU during the height of the Civil Rights Movement and the Vietnam War. Met great leaders such as Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm, Justice Thurgood Marshall, Civil Rights Leader Roy Innis, Cesar Chavez, and many others.
