  Fife Technical, an Occupational Health and Safety Consulting Firm, was created in 2004, incorporated in 2007 and operated until 2008. It was then acquired in May 2008 by Canpro Global to become the new Canpro Training Resources, OH&S and Industrial Rescue Division. Instrumental in its creation I assisted employers in the prevention of injury and disease. My services included workplace inspections, incident investigations, hazard identification and risk assessments, health and safety training, health and safety auditing, developing safe work practices and procedures, consulted with Joint Committee members, reviewing OHS programs to ensure compliance with WCB Act and Regulation, recommending strategies for safety program implementation, recommending health and safety initiatives, and promoting safe workplace.   Worked in a supervisory role with the Canadian Forces at Camp Julien in Afghanistan. I was responsible for responding to fire, vehicle, and hazardous material incidences on and off the base in an operational theatre.   As a founder and managing partner with the OH&S and Industrial Rescue division of Canpro Training Resources, then, later CKR Global, I was involved in every aspect of the company. I provided health and safety solutions to clients across all sectors. They included retail, manufacturing, construction, oil and gas, education providers, concrete and aggregate providers, health authorities, municipalities, local, provincial, and federal government authorities. My services included writing customized OHS programs in consultation with the client’s Joint Health and Safety Committee, designing, and delivering training programs such as confined space, fall protection, technical rescue, lockout, respiratory protection, gas monitor use and toxicology, WHIMS, supervisor and management health and safety responsibilities as well as employer due diligence.   I was responsible for the development, implementation, communication and the maintenance of the safety management system for Metro Vancouver (MV). The success of this system was measured by the BC Municipal Safety Associations's (BCMSA) COR program, using both internal and external audits. I advised staff at all levels on matters related to regulations and standards, meeting regularly with Department Safety Supervisors and Advisors. In addition, I liaised directly with the WorkSafe BC (WSBC) Prevention Division which played an important part in the ongoing occupational health and safety of MV personnel. I was responsible for Metro Vancouver's claim management system providing representation at WSBC Claims Appeals, Claims Review Board, Workers Compensation Appeal Tribunal and OHS hearings. External resources and organizations are important to MV's success. I played an active role in the BCMSA, as a Board and COR Technical Advisory Committee Member, as well as maintaining contact with other municipal, public and private sector OHS groups and professionals.
