My services included writing customized OHS programs in consultation with the client’s Joint Health and Safety Committee, designing, and delivering training programs such as confined space, fall protection, technical rescue, lockout, respiratory protection, gas monitor use and toxicology, WHIMS, supervisor and management health and safety responsibilities as well as employer due diligence.       I was responsible for the development, implementation, communication and the maintenance of the safety management system for Metro Vancouver (MV). The success of this system was measured by the BC Municipal Safety Associations's (BCMSA) COR program, using both internal and external audits. I advised staff at all levels on matters related to regulations and standards, meeting regularly with Department Safety Supervisors and Advisors. In addition, I liaised directly with the WorkSafe BC (WSBC) Prevention Division which played an important part in the ongoing occupational health and safety of MV personnel. I was responsible for Metro Vancouver's claim management system providing representation at WSBC Claims Appeals, Claims Review Board, Workers Compensation Appeal Tribunal and OHS hearings. External resources and organizations are important to MV's success. I played an active role in the BCMSA, as a Board and COR Technical Advisory Committee Member, as well as maintaining contact with other municipal, public and private sector OHS groups and professionals.
