      Archaeological Excavation Director in Papua New Guinea on the largest excavation in the country's history. The excavations were taking place in area experiencing low level tribal warfare. This and other issues presented a challenging set of circumstances that required careful management.

      As project manager of the Irish Walled Towns Network, my role was to unite and co-ordinate the strategic efforts of local authorities involved in the management, conservation and enhancement of historic walled towns in Ireland, both North and South. In 2018, the EU's European Committee for the Regions cited the Irish Walled Towns Network as being one of two Irish best practice examples in the sustainable use of culture for urban regeneration purposes.

      High Commended Landscape theory, policy and management category Irish Landscape Institute 2020 The Múscraí Heritage Plan, which I led and was the main author of, was Highly Commended in the Landscape theory, policy and management category at the Irish Landscape Institute Awards.

      Winner Economic and Development Category Irish Planning Institute 2020 The Múscraí Heritage Plan, which I led and was the main author of, was winner in the planning and economic development category at the biannual Irish Planning Awards.

      Shortlisted Opportunity and Empowerment Category Irish Planning Institute 2016 Working with the local community of Carrick-on-Suir, I created a two day workshop that focused on developing sustainable solutions to the town's economic and social issues. A follow-up report was also produced.

      Inducted Best in Heritage European Heritage Association & International Council of Museums 2014 The Best in Heritage event is an international, annual survey of award-winning museum, heritage and conservation projects. Twenty four projects from around the world, proclaimed the best in the previous year on national or international level, are invited to the conference to present their success stories. I had the honour of presenting a paper at the 2014 event in Dubrovnik.

      Laureate European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards Europa Nostra 2013 I devised and project managed the IWTN's Educational Programme which won in the Education, Training and Awareness-Raising Category.

      Shortlisted Eircom Spider Website Awards Spiders 2013 Project managed new IWTN website. Worked in close partnership with our excellent web designers in its full realisation. Shortlisted in the Arts, Heritage and Culture category. The Spiders are the most prestigious website awards in Ireland.

      Best Historical Archaeology Heritage Report Australasian Society for Historical Archaeology 2009 Along with three others, I won this award for the compilation of a strategy document permitting the sensitive redevelopment of The Rocks Colonial Settlement, Sydney.
